Background

The Ring which is a novel was written by Bernard Smith. This edition was published in 2000 Penguin. It has 54 pages and 15 chapters. It is Level which means it has a vocabulary of 1200 words.

Summary of the story

The Doctor saw Rafael for the first time, when he was twelve years old on

His boat house, Rafael was then young man who wears a golden fish ring around his neck saying: she gave it to me”. After twelve year the doctor decided to help crazy Rafael and take him to a hospital in the capital. This the side of Rafael story told by the doctor’s uncle that when Rafael was eight years old his father was killed by shark in front of his eyes and when Rafael become a young man he took revenge by killing many sharks.

Rafael and Anita fall in love but her father does not want a poor fisherman to be Anita’s husband. Anita ran away perhaps with Carlos (the soldier) at that time Rafael went mad. Rafael tried again to marry Anita in fact he bought her gold ring but her father refused him again. The doctor was questioning who might kill the soldier and Anita; He thought that Rodrigo might kill both of them. One year later a note from Rodrigo the shopkeeper sent to the doctor to come to the village because Rafael is very ill. The doctor took Rafael to the hospital because he was very ill with tuberculosis and he died six days later.

Conclusion

Rafael brought her gold ring. It was like the magic ring in her story. Then the soldier came to the village he was much more exciting than Rafael. Anita thought Rafael was very boring. She stopped meeting him and speaking to him. So Rafael planned to kill the soldier, then he broke the boot then the shark eats both of them. Finally, Rafael went mad since.

My Opinion

The Ring a good book, I advice the people to read it and enjoy and I didn’t like it because Rafael didn’t marry Anita.

Cambodia

Cambodia

Italk today about Cambodia, is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of over 13 million people. Phnom Penh is the capital city. Cambodia is the successor state of the once powerful Hindu and Buddhist Khmer Empire, which ruled most of the Indochinese Peninsula between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries.

A citizen of Cambodia is usually identified as "Cambodian" or "Khmer," though the latter strictly refers to ethnic Khmers. Most Cambodians are Theravada Buddhists of Khmer extraction, but the country also has a substantial number of predominantly Muslim Cham, as well as ethnic Chinese, Vietnamese and small animist hill tribes.

The country borders Thailand to its west and northwest, Laos to its northeast, and Vietnam to its east and southeast. In the south it faces the Gulf of Thailand. The geography of Cambodia is dominated by the Mekong river (colloquial Khmer: Tonle Thom or "the great river") and the Tonlé Sap ("the fresh water lake"), an important source of fish. Much of Cambodia sits near sea level, and consequently the Tonle Sap River reverses its water flow in the wet season, carrying water from the Mekong back into the Tonlé Sap Lake and surrounding flood plain.

Cambodia's main industries are garments and tourism. In 2006, foreign visitors had surpassed the 1.7 million mark.[1] In 2005, oil and natural gas deposits were found beneath Cambodia's territorial water, and once commercial extraction begins in 2009 or early 2010, the oil revenues could profoundly affect Cambodia's economy.[2]
